Frequently Asked Questions
1. Will I receive a diploma after completing the course?
No, you will receive a certificate upon completion.
What’s the difference between a Certificate and a Diploma?
- Diploma: Generally awarded after completing an extensive program that includes both classes and hands-on experience in a specific field. The duration of study is typically longer.
- Certificate: Usually awarded after completing a shorter, more intensive course focused on developing specific skills relevant to career competency.
2. Will I need to register with a governing board and pay membership fees?
No, you are not required to register with a governing board or pay membership fees. We are teaching you a skill, specifically Deep Muscle Therapy (DMT), which is a non-regulated therapy.
What’s the difference between RMT and DMT?
- RMT (Registered Massage Therapist): This designation indicates that an individual has registered with the College of Massage Therapists in certain provinces (Ontario, British Columbia, Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island). RMTs are held to professional standards and guidelines, with oversight from their respective college, which includes a complaints and discipline process.
- DMT (Deep Muscle Therapy): A specific type of therapy that does not require registration with a governing body. A person can be an RMT who practices DMT, but not all DMT practitioners are RMTs.
